Microphlebectomy

Also referred to as Ambulatory Phlebectomy, Microphlebectomy is a safe and effective in-office, minimally-invasive, procedure that is used to treat varicose veins. After using a special marker to note the bulging varicosities, the doctor removes the refluxing, superficial varicose veins under local anesthetic with special instruments. After the phlebectomy procedure, the leg is wrapped with sterile dressings and a medical compression stocking. Patients are able to walk immediately.

Microphlebectomy is recommended for the treatment of larger refluxing varicose veins – which may not close down completely with Sclerotherapy. The Microphlebectomy procedure is often used in conjunction with endovenous thermal ablation or sclerotherapy, resulting in more efficient treatment.
