Madeline brings a wealth of vein care experience. Not only that, but she commands a rare level of expertise in leg wound care. In fact, Madeline is one of only 610 board-certified advanced practice wound care nurses in the world—a distinction that reflects years of specialized training and experience treating complex wounds.
Madeline Paquette is a doctorate-prepared Nurse Practitioner and board-certified Wound Care Specialist with a strong background in complex and infectious disease care.
Education and Academic Honors
Madeline earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, summa cum laude, from Eastern Michigan University in 2017.
During her undergraduate studies, she was inducted into two prestigious academic honor societies:
Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
She later earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Michigan in 2021, completing her training as a Family Nurse Practitioner and becoming board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Clinical Experience at Michigan Medicine
Madeline began her nursing career at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, where she worked for 4.5 years as a surgical transplant registered nurse.
During this time she:
Served as a charge nurse
Acted as a primary unit preceptor, helping train new nurses
Received multiple DAISY Award nominations for excellence in patient care
Earlier in her career, she also worked as a live-in home health aide, providing care for individuals with disabilities.
Infectious Disease and Hyperbaric Medicine Training
After becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Madeline practiced in the infectious disease specialty, focusing heavily on osteomyelitis and osteomyelitis-related wounds.
During this time she received specialized training in Hyperbaric Medicine, including the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy as an adjunctive treatment for complex and non-healing wounds.
She also served for one year on the Board of Directors for the Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner Society of America.
Advanced Certification in Wound Care
Madeline discovered her passion for wound care while treating infectious disease patients.
She completed a WOCNCB-accredited certification program in 2022 and became board-certified as an Advanced Practice Wound Care Nurse in February 2023.
She currently practices full-time as a Wound Care Specialist and also serves as a certified preceptor for the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society, helping train the next generation of wound-care clinicians.

She believes that when providers truly care about their patients and their outcomes, meaningful healing becomes possible.
