Heavy legs. Swelling. Visible veins. Aching that gets worse by the end of the day. These aren’t just signs of aging. They’re signs of vein disease, and treatment can help.
If your legs feel heavy, swollen, restless, or achy on a regular basis, you’re not imaging it. Millions of Americans live with vein disease without realizing it. The symptoms are easy to dismiss because they build slowly: a little more swelling each year, a little more fatigue by evening, a little more discomfort standing or sitting for long stretches.
Many of our patients tell us they assumed their symptoms were just part of getting older. They lived with the heaviness, the aching, the restless nights for years before learning there was a treatable medical condition behind it all.
Vein disease (also called chronic venous insufficiency or CVI) happens when the valves in your leg veins stop working properly. Blood pools in the legs instead of returning to the heart efficiently. That’s what causes the swelling, the heaviness, the visible veins, and in more advanced cases, skin changes or leg wounds. The good news: it’s very treatable. And in most cases, it’s covered by insurance.
In our most recent survey, a strong majority of patients said the treatment process was clearly and completely explained to them before it began. That matters to us. We believe you should know exactly what to expect before anything happens.
Treatment is tailored to your specific condition. For varicose veins and CVI, we use proven techniques like endovenous laser ablation and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy. Your vein specialist will recommend the right approach based on what your ultrasound shows, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
When we ask patients why they decided to get vein treatment, the most common answer isn’t about how their legs look. It’s about how their legs feel.
Nearly 6 in 10 Miller Vein patients say they sought treatment to improve their health and comfort. Relief from pain, swelling, heaviness, and fatigue is the primary outcome they’re after.
That said, many patients are pleased to find that treatment improves both how their legs feel and how they look. Healthier veins often mean less visible varicose veins, reduced skin discoloration, and yes, more confidence. But the foundation of what we do is medical, not cosmetic.
In our most recent patient survey, 73% reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their treatment results, and 89% were satisfied or very satisfied with their overall clinic experience.
Varicose veins are swollen, twisted, bulging veins that occur when blood pools in your legs. Normally, the veins in your legs use valves to carry blood back up to your heart. As we age, the veins and their valves can weaken, causing blood to flow backward and pool. This abnormal flow is called venous reflux and can lead to varicose veins.
While varicose veins are often thought to be cosmetic, they are actually a medical concern as they are associated with a large number of symptoms. In fact, they can be quite debilitating. Some of the mild-to-severe symptoms include:
Varicose vein procedures are typically covered by insurance. To make the treatment process as easy as possible, Miller Vein accepts more than 700 insurance plans.

Good news! We don’t usually need to remove varicose veins. We frequently treat problematic veins with minimally invasive techniques, such as thermal ablation, VenaSeal™, or sclerotherapy. These procedures close down the veins, naturally rerouting blood flow, eliminating the need for varicose vein removal.
These treatment options are frequently performed in under 15 minutes and require no downtime. You should begin to see significant improvement shortly after treatment.
There are two types of thermal ablation. In laser ablation, a thin laser fiber is inserted into the affected vein, and laser energy is used to heat and close the vein. In radiofrequency ablation (RFA), a thin ClosureFast™ catheter is inserted, and radiofrequency energy is used to heat and close the vein. Once the vein is closed, circulation improves as blood is naturally rerouted to healthy veins.
VenaSeal™ is a modern treatment for varicose veins, closing affected veins with a specially formulated medical adhesive. During the procedure, your board-certified vein specialist will insert a tiny catheter into the problematic vein to seal it and reroute blood flow to nearby healthy veins.
Also known as endovenous chemical ablation (EVCA), sclerotherapy uses an FDA-approved medicine to close down abnormal veins. The medicine can be made stronger by making it into a foam. Some patients only need a single treatment, although additional treatments may be needed, depending on the number and size of the veins.
Microphlebectomy (often referred to as an MP) is a safe and effective in-office procedure used to remove varicose veins through small incisions and a local anesthetic. The incisions are so tiny that no sutures or stitches are required.
Spider veins will remain after varicose vein treatments. So, while these medical procedures won’t eliminate spider veins, Miller Vein’s signature VeinErase® treatments do.
At Miller Vein, we understand that varicose vein treatment is about more than just medical results—it’s about improving your quality of life.
